“Justice is everyone’s business” — Lawyer gives update as court remands Ifeanyi Ogbonna over late Favour’s case

A lawyer representing the family of late Favour has provided an update on the case, revealing that the court has remanded Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre.

According to the lawyer, the application to remand Ogbonna was heard and granted by the court on September 4, 2026. He will remain in custody and be brought before the court as the trial progresses.

The lawyer also disclosed that the autopsy and toxicology test results for late Favour had been received by the police investigation team, marking the conclusion of the investigation.

He said the results, alongside other evidence and facts gathered during the investigation, were included in the report prepared for the prosecution and trial of the case.

The lawyer noted that the matter now lies with the Ministry of Justice, particularly the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to representing Favour’s family on a pro bono basis, including providing legal services and financial support to ensure that all aspects of the case are pursued.

“I shall keep you all updated as the case progresses because Justice is everyone's business,” he said.

He ended the update with the Latin phrase, “Fiat justitia ruat caelum,” meaning “Let justice be done though the heavens fall.”
